GRW's Speedmaster is a speed measuring device especially designed for high RPM (revolutions per minute) rotating instruments used in dentistry, such as dental drills and polishers. Our Speedmaster can measure the speed of these rotating parts as well as that of other rapidly rotating parts, such as motors or high-frequency spindles.
A test probe or a motor shaft is magnetized with the help of the attached permanent magnet. The sensor is positioned at a distance of between 1 and 10 mm to the magnetized shaft. When the shaft rotates, the weak magnetic field is recorded by the special GRW sensor, then amplified and displayed in rpm, or revolutions per minute. This non-contact recording is designed for speeds from 20,000 to 600,000 rpm. In addition to dental applications (repair of dental turbines and angular hand-pieces), the device has proven itself in several development and production applications
